Pictory workflow: turn a script into a reviewed video
For creators repurposing an existing article or script into a narrated video. Decide what the viewer should learn, then measure how much editing remains after the first draft.
Where Pictory fits
Pictory lists script-to-video and URL-to-video workflows, captioning and voice-over tools. These are useful candidates for turning existing written material into a video draft. Generated scene choices still need editorial review: a relevant stock clip is not evidence for a factual claim, and a polished voice-over does not make the script accurate.
A five-step trial
| Step | Your task | Pass condition |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Brief | Choose one audience, one question and one output format. Start with a short script you own. | The script has a clear point and a call to action. |
| 2 · Draft | Use a script or a suitable URL workflow. Review the scene divisions before polishing. | Each scene supports the intended meaning. |
| 3 · Assets | Replace unsuitable visuals and check the license conditions for every included asset. | No misleading or unlicensed scene remains. |
| 4 · Audio and captions | Listen to names, numbers and pauses. Check spelling, contrast and mobile readability. | Audio and captions agree with the checked script. |
| 5 · Export | Review the actual exported video on a phone and desktop. Record generation and editing time. | The exported file meets the chosen format and quality checklist. |
Compare the full cost
The pricing page checked for this guide lists Starter at $29 per month and Professional at $59 per month with monthly billing. Annual offers are shown as monthly-equivalent prices paid annually; do not compare those figures with a month-to-month commitment without accounting for the full invoice. Offers can change.
Compare video allowances, AI credits, voice allowances, storage, seats and export conditions for your workload. Include script checking, visual replacement and caption correction in the time cost. A short generation time does not necessarily mean a short production time.
Your video-production cost worksheet
Use the same currency and scope for both options. Changing the currency label does not convert the amounts. This is a calculation worksheet, not a vendor quotation.
Total = upfront cost + monthly cost × months + other one-time costs. Add taxes, setup work and overages consistently. Values stay in this page's browser storage and are not submitted to a server.
Check before using it for client work
- Use scripts and source material you have the right to adapt.
- Confirm the commercial-use terms of the plan and assets.
- Check whether a client permits AI-assisted production.
- Avoid uploading confidential material without permission and an appropriate data arrangement.
- Review the exported file, not only the preview inside the editor.
